Holton Collegiate Cornet

Description

This Holton Collegiate cornet was made in Elkhorn, Wisconsin c.1965, going by the serial number of 384870.  It has just been overhauled and is in very good playing condition. There was a slight bell crease which was removed, but a small dimple dent in the lead pipe remains. All valves and slides work smoothly, but there is some discoloration on the main tuning slide where it was stuck for some years (see photo).
The case is original and serviceable, but has some covering worn off the bottom, where it has been painted over.  Additional padding was added to the interior to protect from water key wear.
This a solid workhorse cornet with a clean, bright tone - an excellent value for a beginning trumpet player, or those who prefer the sound of a vintage cornet.
