Fresh black walnut hulls contain one of the strongest all natural dyes in the world. This dye can easily be extracted from the hulls by heating the blended hulls with water over the stove. Then you simply dip the material that you wish to color into the dye mixture and let soak. A quick dip for light browns and a longer soak for dark browns. Doing this will permanently color the fabric,yarn or wood! Makes between 1/4 and 1/2 gallon of dye.
That was just a very quick explanation of how to use this kit. I send very easy and detailed instructions that anyone can follow. I also share tips and ideas to get you started on this FUN natural dyeing project.
This kit also makes a wonderful gift for anyone who loves nature and crafts.
In the pictures you will notice popsicle sticks wrapped with yarn and labeled wool or cotton. These are just visual samples to show the different colors you can achieve with this kit. If you look close you will see writing on the sticks telling how long I soaked each one to get that color shade. Notice how the wood was also stained by the dye just like the yarn!
The color samples do not come with the kit. I guess there is one small sample because I use wool yarn that I dyed to tie the label to the jar.    :)
